We will acknowledge the amazing ladies who represent colleges around our area, with their stories of rising above obstacles to pursue their dreams. Please encourage applicants to the Soroptimist International of the Americas Sierra Pacific Region’s “Furthering the Dream” Educational Award!
The award will be given to a woman living in the Sierra Pacific Region who is completing a graduate degree program or is pursuing her Bachelor studies.
(Soroptimist members and family members are excluded from competition.) The eligibility criteria and administration of the program is as follows:
- The application pool will be open to all women in the region, particularly previous Soroptimist Live Your Dream awardees and applicants.
- The award has been expanded to applicants pursuing Bachelor studies, as well as postgraduate education.
- Particular encouragement is given to women who are pursuing educational pathways in industries non-traditional for women (such as engineering, science, etc.), as well as to women pursuing studies that will improve the lives of women and girls.
- The application deadline is March 1, 2021, with the award being made in May 2021.

20th ANNUAL WOMEN’S FILM FESTIVAL
LUNAFEST is a fundraising film festival featuring seven short films by and about women.
WHAT: LUNAFEST, the fundraising film festival dedicated to championing women filmmakers and bringing women together in their communities, hosted by Soroptimist International of Clovis.
This unique film festival highlights women as leaders in society, illustrated through seven short films by women filmmakers. The films range from animation to drama, and cover topics such as women’s health, body image, relationships, cultural diversity and breaking barriers.
All proceeds from LUNAFEST will benefit the local nonprofit, Soroptimist International of Clovis, whose mission is to empower women and girls by providing access to, and support of their educational objectives and Chicken & Egg Pictures, a nonprofit organization that supports women nonfiction filmmakers whose artful and innovative storytelling catalyzes social change. Thus far, LUNAFEST, which is created and funded by LUNA®, The Whole Nutrition Bar, has raised more than $5 Million for nonprofit organizations across the US and Canada.
WHEN: Noon on Saturday, March 20 through Noon, Monday, March 22 (Watch the films anytime within 24 hours after initial log in.)
WHERE: Online – A streaming link and password will be sent to all those that have purchased tickets the morning of the event. Purchasers will have 24-hour access to view the films until noon on Monday, March 22.
